I would be honored to represent the

126th Assembly District

As an Army Veteran, I truly understand what it takes to work hard and serve selflessly. Having the privelege of serving my country for nearly 6 six years and raising my family in beautiful upstate NY are some of the highest honors of my life. My dedication to my family and community has helped shape my commitment for giving back.

Vision, Issues, & Values

I’m not running, I’m working…

To fight for fair funding for our upstate schools.

To build partnerships within our communities.

To secure the future of upstate New York.

To preserve benefits for NY Veterans.

I am dedicated to:

  • Building relationships and ending the divisive politics by focusing on improving the quality of life for our residents.
  • Bringing fair funding to our upstate schools and areas.
  • Fighting to protect our lakes against the harmful algal bloom.
  • Championing the concerns of all residents throughout our district and be that voice in Albany.

Ending the Political Divide

The “Us versus Them” divide has carried over from Washington DC to New York. As a true Independent, I will work to build and strengthen relationships with both major parties to ensure a brighter future for our district.

Working Relationships

As a moderate Independent, I am free of political party pressure and can focus on working for the people of the 126th Assembly District. I will partner with Republicans, Democrats and Independents to solve upstate issues and improve our quality of life.

Fighting for all of our Communities

The district deserves a champion in the State Assembly who is committed to represent all of us, regardless of political affiliation.

The Leadership

Our District Needs

A Little About Jermaine

I am a father of two (10 year old son and 8 year old daughter), husband of nearly 13 years and a lifelong resident of New York. I was born in Brooklyn, raised in Binghamton and became a resident of Sherburne in 2004.

When I wasn’t in New York, I was proudly serving my Country in the U.S. Army. The Army enhanced in me the traits that my parents taught me: selflessness, integrity and hard work. These are the same qualities I pass on to my children.

In my “free” time, I enjoy spending time with my family, getting outdoors as much as possible and serving as a Sherburne Public Library Trustee.

Jermaine’s Plan For Unity

Like many of you, I have seen our Country become very divided. Some of our elected leaders have made it their mission to bring that same political divide to Albany. Instead of criticizing lawmakers in the Assembly because of their political affiliation, I will focus on building relationships and have NYC leaders understand our upstate needs.

My plan is to collaborate with a group of upstate Representatives in both the Assembly and Senate to discuss our upstate issues. Within this group, we will come together and craft joint legislation that addresses the needs of  our upstate counties such as Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland and Onondaga.

Together, we can address the challenges that our farmers face. Together, we can work on ways of attracting and bringing businesses and jobs to our area. Together, we can make sure our district schools are properly and fairly funded.

Together, we can address growing concerns of our aging community in regard to healthcare access and the affordability of prescription medication in New York. Together, we can fight to make New York affordable. Together, we can end the divide.

We cannot afford to be ignored any longer. In order to be a Representative, one must be able to be fully present and willing to listen to all concerns. No matter what political party you’re affiliated with, I will actively listen and act on those concerns.

We used to have a saying in the Army: “I don’t see black or white. I only see green!” This mentality has carried over into my life outside of the military. As I run to represent the district, I don’t see white, black, Republican, Democrat, Independent. I only see neighbors and opportunities to build relationships!

I’m not asking you to abandon your political values and principles. I am asking that we end the divide and partner together as neighbors and community members. I am asking that we begin to invest in our future and do what’s best for the 126th Assembly District.

Education is my top Priority

Gary Finch had visitors from the Auburn Enlarged School District visit him in Albany. The purpose was to be heard about fair funding for their school. Instead of addressing the concerns, he told them that this was not a priority for him and that it is an issue that...
